How to Make The Best Broiled Grapefruit

When Josiah, the owner of Kooi Housewares says "we would (and do) use in our own kitchens" the things we sell on this site and in our store, he isn't joking! Let me tell you why...
Today, I was working from home (because who doesn't these days) and was craving a little snack. So, I snuck away from the computer to prep one of my new-found winter favorites...Broiled Grapefruit!
Shh... don't tell the boss I was slacking...
Until a year or two ago, I had never enjoyed this warm, winter treat, but it quickly has become a favorite immune-boosting snack!
If you have never had broiled grapefruit, RUN to the kitchen and try it!! It's simple and warms you up from the inside out while filling your body with all the yummy vitamins without the bitterness of traditional grapefruit.
As I satisfied my mid-day craving, I realized almost EVERYTHING I was using in my kitchen came from our store!

I sliced the grapefruit in half with a boring knife that was on my counter (the RADA tomato knife would have been perfect for this) -
Separated the membranes of the grapefruit with Norpro's twin-blade grapefruit knife -
Took brown sugar from my Progressive brown sugar keeper -
Sprinkled the sugar using Norpro's grapefruit spoons -
And popped the treat into the oven to broil on Range Kleen's toaster oven baking sheet (the perfect small size).

Into the oven it went, and I enjoyed the scent-sational aromas coming from the kitchen for the next 8 minutes while I typed away answering emails so the boss didn't realize I had been absent.
So, in case the boss ever inquires to my random forays away from my desk or wants to enjoy a broiled grapefruit himself, I decided to write this blog post supporting his statement that we all use the products at Kooi Housewares in our homes. I was SHOCKED by how many of my kitchen tools came from Kooi Housewares.

Now, my energy has been restored and I'm back to my "real" job, but I linked the items I used below as well as instructions just in case you take a foray into the warm grapefruit world.
Here are the simple steps:
Broiled Grapefruit Instructions
1. Slice your grapefruit in half
2. Separate the fruit from the membranes by slicing around the exterior rind as well as the individual pieces (this allows the sugar to seep into the fruit as it broils and sweetens the whole fruit rather than just the top)
3. Sprinkle brown sugar on top of each half (I use approximately a tablespoon)
4. (optional) For added immunity boost and depth of flavors, sprinkle cinnamon on top
5. Broil the fruit in your oven for approximately 8 minutes.
6. Enjoy!
