French Chef Knife by Rada

Cut to the chase - the Rada French Chef Knife is an 8.5 Inch American Made blade, Hollow-Ground and Hand-Sharpened in Iowa, priced like you'll actually use it every day.
Every kitchen has that moment when the paring knife is too small, the utility knife is still too small, and you realize you need a real chef knife. This is that knife. Eight and a half inches of surgical-grade T420 stainless steel, hand-sharpened by a person, ready to break down a butternut squash without you fighting it.
The rocking-curve edge is what makes a French chef knife different from every other knife in your drawer. Learn the rock chop for onions and garlic once, and you'll wonder how you ever did prep with a paring knife and a lot of patience.
Made in Iowa, sharp enough to earn your respect, priced like you'll actually use it.
- 8.5 inch hollow-ground blade - hollow-grinding thins the metal behind the edge so the knife pushes through vegetables and meat with less drag than a flat-ground blade. It also means the edge holds longer between sharpenings.
- Surgical-grade T420 high-carbon stainless steel, hand-sharpened by Rada's team in Waverly, Iowa. Every blade goes through a real person's hands before it hits the box.
- CHOOSE YOUR HANDLE: Silver satin aluminum for the classic Rada look (hand wash only), or black resin if you would rather it survive the dishwasher.
- 13 inch total length, 2-and-3/16 inch blade height - a real chef-knife heft without the professional-line price tag.
- Made in the USA from American-sourced materials. Rada has been at this since 1948 and the manufacturing stays put in Waverly, Iowa even after a 2024 change of ownership.
- Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. If the blade ever fails you, email us at support@kooihousewares.com and we will help you get it replaced.
Yes, you CAN put the resin-handled version in the dishwasher. We still recommend that you don't.
Hand washing keeps the edge sharper longer. The dishwasher's high heat, harsh detergents, and jostling against other utensils micro-dull any knife over time. But if you're going to forget and drop it in the machine, the resin handle will forgive you. The aluminum handle won't.
Why we've carried Rada Cutlery for so long at Kooi Housewares.
Rada is a family-scale operation in a small Iowa town that has been making knives the same way since 1948. Every blade is hand-sharpened by a real person, not spit out untouched by a machine. That's why the Kooi Housewares shelves have carried Rada for years - the price hits like a starter knife, the quality hits like a knife you'll own for two decades. We've heard from customers whose Rada knives outlived the dishwasher they weren't supposed to be in.
