How do you sharpen a vegetable peeler?

A pull-through sharpener like the Rada Quick Edge won't fit around a swivel-blade peeler, so most cooks either use the folded edge of aluminum foil (fold a small square, run the blade through it 10 to 12 times) or slide a fine sandpaper strip through the blade slot. A dull peeler that has served you well is usually worth replacing rather than sharpening, especially at Rada's price point.

What's the difference between a swivel peeler and a Y peeler?

A swivel peeler, like this Rada, has an inline blade that pivots and follows the contour of round produce. A Y peeler has a fixed blade set perpendicular to the handle for faster, straight-shot strokes. Swivel styles feel more natural for potatoes and apples. Y peelers are quicker on butternut squash and firm root vegetables.

Can this peeler go in the dishwasher?

The black resin handle is dishwasher tolerant, but Rada recommends hand washing all of its fine cutlery. Dishwasher detergent and hard-water spray can dull the edge and leave micro-dents in the blade over time. A quick rinse and towel dry keeps this peeler sharp for years.

Care Instructions: Hand washing is recommended. The black resin handle is dishwasher tolerant, but hand washing preserves the edge on the surgical-grade stainless blade and prevents micro-dents from detergent and hard-water spray. Rinse under warm water, wipe with a soft cloth or sponge, and dry immediately after use. Store in a drawer or on a magnetic strip where the blade won't rattle against other utensils. We ship all orders from our store in Muskegon, Michigan. Most products ship out within 1-2 business days from purchase. Tracking information will be emailed to you when your order ships.

Orders over $49 ship free. Orders less than $49 have a shipping and handling charge of $4.99 to help cover some of the cost of packaging and shipping. This allows us to continue offering low priced products at a reasonable price.

We're simple people, so we try to keep our policies simple. We realize that not everything purchased is a winner, and so returns do happen. Here are the simple rules for a return:

1. To be eligible for a refund, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be in the original packaging.

2. Returns must be shipped back within 30 days of delivery.

3. Returns that do not adhere to rules 1 and 2 MAY be given a partial refund depending on product condition and return timing.

4. Customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. If your product has arrived damaged from Shipping or has a manufacturing defect, we may choose to provide a pre-paid return label or send a replacement item.
