Are Rada knives made in the USA?

Yes. Every Rada blade in this set is manufactured in Waverly, Iowa, from surgical-grade T420 high-carbon stainless steel. Rada has been making knives in Waverly since 1948 and sources all materials from American suppliers. The company was acquired by St. Martin Holdings in 2024, but manufacturing stays in Iowa.

Can the black-handle Rada knives go in the dishwasher?

The black resin handles are dishwasher-tolerant, so an occasional cycle will not ruin them. That said, Rada still recommends hand washing to protect the edge and finish over the long haul. Silver satin aluminum handles are hand wash only.

Why does the tomato slicer have a serrated blade?

A ripe tomato has a slick, taut skin over soft flesh. A smooth blade tends to skid across the skin and then crush the flesh once it breaks through. Serrated teeth grip the skin on the first pass, so you get a clean slice with the juice staying inside the tomato instead of on the board.

How long is the Rada paring knife blade?

The Regular Paring Knife in this set has a 3.25-inch blade with a smooth (non-serrated) edge. That is the standard size for detail work like coring, peeling, deveining, and trimming.

Do I need to sharpen the knives in this set?

The Paring Knife has a smooth edge and can be touched up with a pull-through sharpener like the Rada Quick Edge Knife Sharpener, which sharpens both sides of the blade in one pull. The Tomato Slicer is serrated and does not need routine sharpening. Rada also offers free factory sharpening on their smooth-edge knives for the cost of return shipping.

Care Instructions: Silver satin aluminum handles: hand wash only in warm soapy water and dry immediately to preserve the finish. Black resin handles are dishwasher-tolerant, but hand washing keeps the edge and handle looking best. Store in a knife block, drawer sleeve, or on a magnetic bar to protect the blade. Touch up the smooth-edge Paring Knife with a Rada Quick Edge Knife Sharpener as needed (one pull sharpens both sides). The Serrated Tomato Slicer does not require routine sharpening. Blades are backed by Rada's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

We ship all orders from our store in Muskegon, Michigan. Most products ship out within 1-2 business days from purchase. Tracking information will be emailed to you when your order ships.

Orders over $49 ship free. Orders less than $49 have a shipping and handling charge of $4.99 to help cover some of the cost of packaging and shipping. This allows us to continue offering low priced products at a reasonable price.

Returns -

We're simple people, so we try to keep our policies simple. We realize that not everything purchased is a winner, and so returns do happen. Here are the simple rules for a return:

1. To be eligible for a refund, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must be in the original packaging.

2. Returns must be shipped back within 30 days of delivery.

3. Returns that do not adhere to rules 1 and 2 MAY be given a partial refund depending on product condition and return timing.

4. Customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. If your product has arrived damaged from Shipping or has a manufacturing defect, we may choose to provide a pre-paid return label or send a replacement item.
